Statement by Denise de la Cerda, tattoo artist: Somehow this chick has ceased to be merely anyone's baby doll and has taken hold of the steering wheel of her own life and become her own person. Refusing to comb her hair or wash the ballpoint pen marks off her face, she toddled into my shop one day demanding to be needled with flames on her ass. "I always thought of myself as a Hot Ass Baby, now this will really get the point across" she said. "Well all right then." I said. She loved the flames, and kept coming back for more, always more. "I need a necklace of skulls" she said, "and make 'em cheery." Anything for you, babe. We were becoming simpatico, this big hair plastic chick and me. I almost said- "How 'bout a big snake slithering up from between your thighs while we're at it? No charge, for you, doll." But she beat me to it and suggested it herself. Funny, the relationship you develop with your clientele. You can almost read each other's minds after a while...
